Trade & industry
The trade and industry group consists of lawyers with wide
experience of these practice areas. We offer our clients proactive
advice across the whole spectrum of manufacturing, trading and
service-related activities. We assist our clients with all types of
contracts, ranging from one-off supply contracts through various
forms of joint venture to export and project agreements. In 2008 we
worked on, among other things, major overseas projects involving
the construction and operation of power plants. Where our
involvement starts early in a project, we are able to influence the
framework conditions and fundamental assumptions to ensure added
value for our clients.
Proactive tax advice is very important for businesses. For example,
the structuring of joint ventures may have enormous tax
implications. We advise on entering into, following up and amending
financial agreements and also participate actively in the actual
restructuring process. Our comprehensive experience means we are
often employed by clients as sparring partners to discuss strategic
restructuring issues. Many of our clients are small and
medium-sized businesses with no legal department. For these clients
we function as in-house lawyers, becoming involved in all legal
questions. So far this year we have, unsurprisingly, experienced
increasing demand for assistance from clients that are
restructuring or downsizing. We have also assisted with
transactions arising directly out of the financial crisis.
